- Ophir Road - Bus(es) you can take: 48 (Alight at Ophir Road's "Near Bali Lane" bus stop, approx. ∞ minute walk)

- Nearest MRT station: Bugis - East-West Line EW12. You can walk down to Bussorah Street from there.
- By taxi
- Simply call for a cab and tell the cabbie to take you to "Bussorah Street".
- Once you've arrived, look for the "Xuanhua Art Gallery". The glass door right beside it is Hackerspace.sg. Come on up the stairs and say Hi!

11am to 1pm Meet at Hackerspace.sg, get to know each other, set up user accounts for new editors. (Are we going to be restricted by account creation limit?) 1pm to 2pm Go for lunch nearby. 2pm to 3pm Return to venue for cake. We will try to start a Ustream feed from 2:30pm or so; please watch this page for further details and links.Not going to happen, folks, everybody's settled down to editing, so there's not much to show.3pm to 5pm Short guide to editing Wikipedia, followed by the editathon proper. This is now in progress!
- During the editathon, anybody who wants to can use your laptop to edit articles on Wikipedia. Experienced editors are encouraged to suggest themes for the editathon; current suggestions include:
- Clean up the SGpedians' notice board's to-do list on the English Wikipedia by creating requested articles and pruning the list of articles which have already been created.
- Work on the Simple English Wikipedia, which needs more contributors and articles. You can refer to the Wikiproject of Singapore for more details on what to do.
- Mini discussion on the setting up of a local chapter in Singapore.

The Editathon Proposal
So far, we seem to have pretty general consensus for a quiet little meetup in a coffee shop, which would definitely be interesting and a lot of fun. However ...
I've been reading about an Editathon being organized at the British Library, London, as their celebration of Wikipedia's 10th anniversary. This sounds to me like an awesome idea. We could meet up around 11am at Hackerspace.sg (if they're willing to host us), chat and get some lunch on Arab Street or Bugis, and then spend the rest of the day editing Wikipedia. So far, around 40% of RSVPs are from people who have *never* edited Wikipedia at all, so we could help them get started. We could either focus on a particular topic (Singapore? Singapore's WWII history? Kampong Glam? Singaporean districts?) and work on that, or anybody can work on whatever interests them. We'll keep track of the pages we work on here, and maybe check back in a few months to see if any of them have progressed to "Good" or even "Featured" article status. Of course, anybody without a laptop is free to hang around and chat with the rest of us, check out Hackerspace, or do anything else they'd like!
I think this'll be more interesting and fun than just meeting up for coffee; I really like the idea of pulling more people in as Wikipedia contributors, and I think editing the Wiki is a great way to celebrate everything it means to us. It *is* risky: there might only be one or two people with laptops, wifi blocks might mean we *can't* edit Wikipedia for some or all of that day, and - who knows - Wikipedia might be down or something. Still, I think it's worth a shot.

I'll see what the consensus is, and - if it sounds positive - will get in touch with Hackerspace.sg tomorrow to see if they'd be interested. If not, we could move our editathon to a coffee shop, although that'd obviously be a lot less comfortable :).

- Rockythewocky - not saying it a bad idea, but cmon, its wikipedia's 10th birthday, anybody can learn how to edit a page on wikipedia on the internet anytime, we not make the event more lively?

- Great idea, but can we not just edit English Wikipedia, maybe introduce them to Simple English Wikipedia?

- How about we just have lots of snacks and food in this function hall, and we just hang around, with cool music in the background, and go out for lunch, then we do this tutorial to editing.
Things to do
- Combine Design with a Singapore map to make a Singapore-only logo.
- Getting people to join the Wikimedia Singapore mailing list? Mailing list is now getting a little more traffic but we need more...
- Update the Wikipedia:Meetup list to list this as a WikiMeetup.
Cake Recipe
- 175 g wheat flour
- 200 g sugar
- 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon vanilla powder
- 2 eggs
- 1.2 dl milk
- 1.2 dl sunflower oil
- Mix the dry ingredients
- Add milk/water, oil and egg
- Mix together to a batter
- Pour batter into a 9 or 10 inch round spring form
- Bake at 180°C for 40 min. Check with a toothpick.
- Cool down for about half an hour, while you work on the orange topping
- Orange mousse topping
- 2 dl cream
- 100 g sugar
- 3 oranges
- 2 lemons
- half a package jelly powder
- 1 egg
- Whisk the egg and sugar until it's fluffy, use a mixer
- Whisk the cream until it's fluffy (stop before it turns to butter), use a mixer
- Fold the cream, sugar and egg together
- Squeeze the juice from the lemons and oranges
- Mix jelly powder and juice and bring almost to a boil
- Take the jelly mix off the heat and keep stirring the jelly until it starts to thicken
- Gently fold in the jelly with everything else
- Pour over the cake and put in the fridge over night
- Chocolate glazing (for drawing the wikipedia logo)
- 250 g butter
- 250 g icing sugar
- 1 egg
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla powder
- 4 tablespoons cocoa powder
- Separate the egg white and yolk
- Whisk the egg white until you can hold the bowl upside down without anything dripping out
- Mix butter, icing sugar, cocoa and vanilla powder with a mixer at low speed
- Add 1 egg yolk and mix for some more seconds until fully blended
- Gently fold in the egg white
- Using a spoon, put into a plastic bag with a corner cut off and decorate the cake
