The best place to organise this is at the Auckland meetup page. A suggestion at the New Zealand Wikipedians' notice board has not yet attracted much interest.-Gadfium 23:18, 2 January 2011 (UTC)
- I think if there has been no interest since 12 December 2010, I would not think much could be achieved in less than 2 weeks. I guess we could try again, next time? - PoinDexta1 00:35, 3 January 2011 (UTC)
- I'd be keen but I live in Wellington, sorry :-( WP User:Jonathanischoice 22:33, 10 January 2011 (UTC)
Gidday Kiwis, et al - It saddens me that we can't do something - anything - to celebrate this milestone event. God knows we are all indebted to this service - a simple, nevertheless brilliant idea, which like a lot of service products (microwave springs to mind), I find myself saying, "what did we do before this?". I'll tell you - I'm 62 and I wish I had Wikipedia when I was at school. I KNOW I would have nailed all my exams and had time to sleep in. Ha! Instead I would flip through those huge Enclyopedia Britannica books. They were very expensive to buy, which meant we could only afford 2 volumes which we bought second-hand, (since you usually had some high-pressure salesguy trying to take your life's savings for a full set. I love to impart knowledge, and I believe for the most, knowledge should be freely accessible. As the saying goes: To impart knowledge is to gain immortality! THANK GOD FOR WIKIPEDIA!!
